When it comes to burning fuel, here at Thame Stoves we believe the best option is to stick to dry, hard wood. Try to avoid soft wood as it is usually full of resin and can lead to a tar build up in the chimney. However saying this, so can hard wood so make sure it is stored in an airy space such as a log store and is not wrapped up in tarpaulin or even kept in the garage as you need a flow of oxygen to dry it out. In addition, when lighting your stove at the start, soft wood, would be the best option as kindling as it is less dense meaning it will burn quicker meaning you can get up to temperature quicker.

Stay away from fuels such as coal and smokeless fuel as these two fuels not only produce more pollutants and soot, but will also lead to a higher rate of corrosion in your flue liner as well as inside the stove. Not only will they corrode your appliance, but also will be more damaging to the environment. So to get more out of your liner and stove stick to dry, hard wood and make sure you burn your stove nice and hot to gain a cleaner burn
